WAN - Assessing the purpose of the attacks on Rojava, TJK-E member Kezban Doğan stated that they are conducting diplomatic efforts in Europe, saying, "We will use all our strength to ensure Rojava gains political status.’"

The attacks launched by HTS gangs on 6 January against the Şêxmeqsûd and Eşrefiyê neighbourhoods of Aleppo spread throughout Rojava. Citizens who took to the streets in the four parts of Kurdistan and Europe are putting up strong resistance against the attacks.

Kurdish women in Europe are also describing the attacks in Rojava and conducting diplomatic efforts to secure the gains.

Kezban Doğan, a member of the European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E), described the work they are doing in Europe.

Kezban Doğan said that the attacks that began on 6 January targeted not only the Kurds in Rojava but all Kurds and human values, adding, "Reber Apo said in the talks, 'Rojava is my red line.' Rojava is everyone's red line. Rojava is a place where the democratic, feminist, and ecological paradigm is put into practice, demonstrating that a life outside capitalist modernity is possible. This situation has disturbed the ruling powers."

'Women are the primary target'

Kezban Doğan stated, "The Kurdish women's freedom paradigm, which offers hope to the world, is being targeted," emphasising that the attacks on women are not coincidental but a result of the prevailing mindset. Kezban Doğan added, "Women were also the primary target of DAISH. In response, women resisted with the philosophy of “Jin Jiyan Azadi”. Only one neighbourhood remained in Kobanê, and from that last neighbourhood, light spread throughout the world. Thanks to whom? Thanks to Arin Mirkan. Capitalist modernity has a slogan: “Strike the women first”. Hitler, Atatürk, Mussolini and Erdoğan all said this. But they did not see, they ignored the power, the will, the faith and the genetic codes of the Mother Goddess culture in women. The resistance that began in Rojava gave hope to women all over the world. The paradigm of Abdullah Öcalan, who was targeted in Rojava, is the democratic nation."

The most important need: National unity

Recalling that attacks on Rojava have continued unabated since 2012, Kezban Doğan said that this time the Kurds responded to the attacks with a spirit of national unity and increased their resistance. Kezban Doğan emphasised that the Kurds have a spirit of resistance at their core, stating, "The Kurds are united under a single slogan; everyone says 'Rojava, Rojhilat, Kurdistan yek welat e' (Rojava, Rojhilat, Kurdistan is one country). Reber Apo's philosophy has removed the borders in the four parts of Kurdistan. We must bring this spirit to the fore not only when the knife is at the bone, but in every area of life. What the Kurds need most right now is the declaration of national unity."

'We are conducting diplomatic work'

Kezban Doğan stated that the European Kurdish Women's Movement had declared a state of mobilisation since 10 January and had been taking action in all areas to defend Rojava.

Kezban Doğan continued: "We are in the field with women's platforms, internationalists, feminists, socialists and “defend Rojava” groups. We are carrying out practical actions, primarily public diplomacy. We have applied to meet with political parties in the European countries where we are organised. In these meetings, we will tell them to abandon their hypocritical policies and to protect Rojava, which represents human values and human dignity. They have decided to give the Colani government 620 million euros for Syrian refugees in Europe. In the meetings, we will explain to them the paradox they are facing by giving that money. We will remind them that the only difference between HTŞ and ISIS is that HTŞ is official and carries out inhumane attacks. We will remind them that there was previously an DAISH attack in Charlie Abdo, in the centre of Paris; with HTS's attack on Rojava, we will remind them that this time a major DAISH massacre is also possible in Europe.

We will use all our power to ensure Rojava gains political status."
