The Peace and Democratic Society Process initiated by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues with significant developments. Society's expectations and demands are also increasing for the process to be successful and evolve into peace. Women, who are among those most affected by the war, are also stepping up their struggle for peace. Women want the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan for peace.
The peace mothers in Izmir expressed their expectations from the process and demanded the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
'The freedom of the leader is the freedom of us all'
Stating that the primary demand is Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom, Meryem Ataş said, “Our Leader has been under isolation for years. If our Leader is free, we will all be free. The commission established in Parliament is very important at this point. They should meet with Öcalan and give a strong response to the process.”
'We want peace'
Nazime İldeniz also emphasized that they want peace so that the same suffering is not repeated, saying, "We have suffered enough, our suffering is too heavy. Now we want peace. We want the prisoners in jails to be released. We are Kurds, we want to live that way, we want to live with our language. We have sacrificed our children in this struggle, we have paid the price. We will stand behind this cause until the end. We want peace. We want our leaders to be free, we want them to live with their people."
Call for unity and solidarity
Emphasizing that all Kurds must be united and show solidarity for the process to succeed, Mehrinaz Merhan said, “We all need to be one and together. Kurds need to stand by each other. I am also a mother of a martyr. We want nothing but peace. We want all prisoners to be free.”
